A celebration of wines, food and live entertainment, is promised for visitors to the Delicata Classic Wine Festival in Gozo next weekend.
This very popular festival will once again be set in the Gnien il-Kunsill garden, Nadur, now in its 15th year, it will take place on the 18th, 19th and 20th of August, organised by Delicata in conjunction with the Nadur Local Council.
There will some new attractions for this year, including wine coins, which Delicata said will be the common currency at this summer’s Festival, exchangeable for glasses of wines.
The company said that to try the wines, all festival revellers have to do is purchase 24 wine coins in a complimentary purse and a souvenir glass (yours to keep), all for €15.
“Handing over the correct change of wine coins at the stalls inside will prompt the wine stewards to pour a standard 150 ml glass of the wine on show in the clearly marked festival glass. We generously serve all wines by the glass: no tasters, no bottles,” Delicata said.
It added that, “different wines hold different currency: the charge ranges from 6 wine coins for a glass of the flagship selection to 3 coins for a pouring of other quality wines. The marked coins are valid for one night only; they may be kept as a memento.”
In all there will be over 20 wines to sample. Vintages of nine Delicata award-winning brands are served from as many stalls spread along the garden’s periphery.
A variety of both traditional Maltese and international dishes will be served from live cooking stalls.. There will be a selection of pizza, traditional Gozitan ftajjar, fried rabbit, suckling pig, Chinese dishes, grills and various baguettes and desserts.
Also new for this year, is the fully-seated al fresco restaurant ‘Il-Kcina,’ operated by Catermax and Abraham’s serving a 4-course menu with a Maltese flavour and a selection of Delicata wines. Early booking is highly recommended so as to avoid disappointment. Call 2143 5201 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
