Giochi – it’s a knockout 2017: Games, fun & entertainment in XaghraAnother night of Giochi – it’s a knockout – now in its 4th edition – got underway on Thursday, in the village of Xaghra.

Giochi. was one of the opening events for the festa of Marija Bambina, which is celebrated in Xaghra.

The square was turned into a spectacular arena with games, singers and fun. Large crowds of people turned out in perfect weather to enjoy the event, including diners seated in the many restaurants around the square.

The atmosphere was electrifying with 4 teams fighting for every point in a very sportive manner. The audience also had the opportunity to participate in a karaoke night and even in a tug of war competition.
Giochi – it’s a knockout 2017: Games, fun & entertainment in XaghraThe Participating teams were composed from different entities of Xaghra with youths, footballers, scout members and seniors taking part. The organisers said that there was a great atmosphere, and gave thanks to the Xaghra Local Council, especially the Mayor Mr Joe Cordina for making all this possible.

The winning team in this event was the Black Eagles with 27 points, followed by the Legends 20 points, Nazzarenu 19 points and Boys United 14 points.

A new set of games were introduced for this 4th edition of Giochi – it’s a knockout, which ensure plenty of excitement during the evening, and the teams were neck and neck right till the very end.

The Black Eagles team was presented with a trophy, and medals were given to all participants. The winning team is to represent Xaghra in the finals at Marsalforn on the 17th of September.

The next events are to held in Xewkija on Monday, the 28th of August, followed by Ghajnsielem, and then the final in Marsalforn in September.
