Persons aged 50-59 made up highest share of Gozo’s population in 2015

Regional Statistics Malta – is the first regional compendium produced and published by the National Statistics Office that provides a comprehensive coverage of the regional dimensions in Malta and Gozo for 2015.
According to the publication, in 2015, there were 31 683 persons residing in Gozo and Comino regions, and 402 720 in Malta.
Persons aged between 50 and 59 years accounted for the highest share of the population of the Gozo and Comino region, while in Malta persons aged between 30 and 39 years accounted for the highest share of the population.
It noted that in the Gozo and Comino region, one-person households were the most common household size, whereas.in the Malta region two-person households were the most common.
Gozo and Comino had the lowest average household disposable income at €22 053; which was practically at par with the Southern Harbour district The highest was in the Western district of Malta at €29 029.
The publication also found that persons at-risk-poverty rates were highest for the regions of Gozo and Comino at 19.9 per cent, whereas in Malta it was 16.1 per cent.
Gozo and Comino registered the highest ratio of vehicles, 983 per 1 000 total residents. In July-December of 2015, public transport commuters numbered 20 229 676 in Malta and Gozo, however, just 4.4 per cent of public transport commuters were pertaining to Gozo.
