Gozitan and Maltese altar boys are currently at Vatican City to offer liturgical services at St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, continuing the tradition that has been ongoing for the last 53-years.
On Sunday, following the Angelus held at St. Peter’s Square, Pope Francis met the altar boys and there was the opportunity for a group photo to be taken.
The altar boys are being accompanied on their time at the Vatican by Fr Frans Bonnici who is the Director of the National Association of Altar Boys, Fr Mark Ellul and Seminarian Matthew Bajada.
Archbishop Charles Scicluna, on Twitter remarked, “Pope Francis greets altar boys from Malta & Gozo after the Sunday Angelus on 6 Aug. 2017. Bless us Holy Father! We promise you our prayers.”
