MUMN has warned that it will issue industrial directives if, by the end of next week, the union does not receive “serious counter proposal”s regarding the nurses’ and midwives’ sectoral agreement, from the Ministry for Health.
The Union, in a statement today, said that it has informed the Ministry for Health and the Ministry for Family and Social Solidarity, that this action “will seriously effect all the health and elderly services in our country, as all the nurses and midwives working throughout the hospitals, health centres and elderly facilities on both islands will abide by MUMN’s industrial directives.”
It said that it had been more than two months since the last meeting “and all the union’s efforts for a meeting to materialise have proved futile.”
The MUMN Council concluded by saying that it is “not willing to tolerate this type of approach by the Government officials every time a meeting needs to occur. Nurses and Midwives deserve better.”
