Minister for Gozo announces Chinese garden to be built in GozoMinister for Gozo Justyne Caruana Gozo has proposed to build a Chinese garden in Gozo. The Minister was speaking during a meeting with a Chinese delegation from the Dongcheng District of Beijing,

The delegation was led by Mr. Zhang and was accompanied by the President of the Malta China Friendship Society the former Minister Reno Calleja.

While welcoming the members of the delegation, Minister Justyne Caruana emphasised the need for cooperation between Gozo and the Dongcheng District.

She explained that there are several areas in which to foster such cooperation, including cultural, social and economic.
Minister for Gozo announces Chinese garden to be built in Gozo“This is a way to raise awareness of the rich culture of China that can help continue to strengthen the attractions that Gozo already has for the thousands of visitors to the island throughout the year, and to further improve the quality of life for Gozitans themselves,” said Dr Caruana.

The Minister made reference to Memorandum of Understanding that was signed between the Mayor of Mdina and representatives from the Dongcheng District, in the presence of the Ambassador of China to Malta Mr.Jiang Jiang and the Maltese Ambassador to China, Mr John Aquilina.

Dr. Caruana explained that such agreements as important milestones which deepen the friendship between the two peoples, even on a local level.

Minister Justyne Caruana pointed out how precisely 45 years ago, the political generation before us established diplomatic ties with China, which over the years has expanded the knowledge of an ancient and rich culture through exchange visits, as well as projects carried out for the economic prosperity of our country.

She reiterated that building a Chinese garden in Gozo should be part of this cooperation between the two countries.

      People should leave Gozo alone. If this lady wants a Chinese garden, she should put one in her own house
