Traditional agricultural exhibition: il-Wirja ta’ Santa Marija

The Feast of Santa Marija will soon be underway, and as part of the programme for the festivities, the traditional agricultural and industrial exhibition, il-Wirja ta’ Santa Marija, will once again be held in the setting of the Villa Rundle Gardens in Victoria.
The show always attracts very large crowds, organised by the Agrarian, Industrial and Cultural Society of Gozo, it has been taking place in Gozo since 1855.
It will host more than 4,000 exhibits, which include produce, livestock, poultry, vegetables and song birds and farm machinery.
The event showcases the best of Gozo’s artisan work and crafts, produce, locally produced wines, oil and honey.
This is a 2-day show for all ages and all tastes, with family entertainment related to traditional folklore on Monday evening, the 14th of August.
On Tuesday morning the awards ceremony takes place with the presentation of trophies and cash prizes to the best exhibit in each of the categories.
The exhibition is open on Monday 7.00am – 11.00pm and Tuesday 6.45am – 1.00pm.
