Educational campaign launched on drink driving on land and sea

An educational campaign on drinking in moderation and driving responsibly, has been launched today by the.Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Dr Ian Borg.
Dr Borg emphasised the importance of drinking in moderation, as well as the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption, and said that we should always drink responsibly.
He also spoke about the risks associated with driving under alcohol influence, and said that the Ministry and the Government are committed to working in favour of zero tolerance. Dr Borg also addressed the risks which come with driving boats after alcohol consumption.
The Minister mentioned the Government’s intention to amend the law so that the tolerated blood alcohol content will go down from 0.8 to 0.5.
The extensive and continued inspections at sea, carried out by Transport Malta, which are aimed at protecting beaches and swimming zones and ensuring the safety of swimmers and passengers on board boats and other vessels, were commended by Dr Borg.
