Gozo Channel passengers, vehicles and trips all increased in Q2

1,415,326 passengers travelled between Malta and Gozo during the second quarter this year, The National Statistics Office reported today that this was up by 7.3 per cent when compared to the corresponding quarter last year.
April saw the highest number of passengers recorded with 474,647 or 33.5 per cent of the total for the quarter.
The number of vehicles also increased by 8.3 per cent, totalling 394,106. Trips made amounted to 5,541, an increase of 2.1 per cent over the same period last year.
The National Statistics Office pointed out that most trips took place in June – with 1,886 or 34.0 per cent of total trips for the quarter.
Passenger traffic originating from Cirkewwa during the first six months, was busiest on Friday and Saturday, whereas highest numbers from Mgarr were recorded on Sunday and Monday, the NSO said.
