Ministry for Gozo Non Governmental Organisations Assistance SchemeThe Ministry for Gozo Non Governmental Organisations Assistance Scheme has been launched by the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana.

This new scheme is aimed at providing support to Gozo Voluntary Organisations to facilitate the realisation of projects, events and initiatives during 2017.

The Minister for Gozo explained that the objectives of this scheme are of assistance to improve the social, cultural, economic and ecological fabric of the Gozitan society, as well as to to promote and encourage volunteering and participation in voluntary activities.

It will also be used to stimulate cooperation and networking between voluntary organisations and to foster cooperation between voluntary organisations and the Ministry for Gozo through collaborative projects, initiatives and events, Dr Caruana said.

NGOs registered with the Office of the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations can apply under this assistance scheme.

The Minister said that the maximum amount of assistance to implement any financial projects, events and initiatives proposed in Gozo will not exceed € 5,000. They must also take place in the current year.

The Minister said that the Gozo voluntary sector is very strong and makes a valuable contribution in Gozitan society and beyond.

Dr Caruana added, “it is very important that the Government assists as much as possible to the operation of these organisations.”

The Minister Caruana thanked all those involved in Gozo volunteering organisations.

Applications and guidelines are available online from Friday, the 14th of July 2017 from the website of the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector www.vofunding.org.mt and will be received by Friday 4 August 2017.

The guidelines for prospective applicants will also be available on the website of the Ministry for Gozo
