A new Wi-Fi service has been launched at Santa Maria Bay, Comino, which will now also be extended to the Blue Lagoon, making the island digitally accessible for visitors.
This, and other initiatives were announced during a visit to the island by the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana, to meet with operators and workers.
Justyne Caruana said that this project will continue to increase connectivity between the islands of Malta, Gozo and Comino through a free communication service that everyone can enjoy.
The Minister for Gozo also visited another team of workers from within the Ministry who are working on a project to strengthen free Wi-Fi for passengers crossing on the Gozo Channel ferry, as well as the vicinity of the Comino Tower.
Dr Caruana took the opportunity to view the extensive cleaning work carried out on the main beaches of Comino, which included the clearing of algae and grasses, the introduction of roping to protect the sand dunes, and other work related to cleaning and maintaining cleanliness on the beaches.
“Thanks to this work we will have a much better environment on our beaches. This year the works have been carried out before the start of the season, therefore causing the least possible inconvenience to the public,” said Justyne Caruana.
She added that the Ministry for Gozo is currently undergoing various clean-ups and maintenance work in locations around Gozo.
The Ministry for Gozo will also be embarking on works to ensure greater accessibility and security, the Minister said.
Dr Caruana thanked the workers, and appealed for the cooperation of everyone to help ensure that the work that had been undertaken on Comino would be of benefit to all.
