Hondoq kiosk permit refusal is a win for the environment – FAA

Hondoq permit refusal is a win for the environment - FAAToday’s decision taken by the Planning Commission to refuse a development application requesting an extension for a kiosk in Hondoq, Gozo, has been welcomed by Flimkien ghal Ambjent Ahjar.

The environmentalal NGO in a statement, described it as “a decision in favour of the environment.”

FAA went on to say that the Malta Tourism Authority had opposed the development, noting that “there was no need for further commercial commitments in the area as was being proposed through this development.”

“This decision is a win for the environment and should serve as a reference point for any other potential proposals in the area that stand to harm this unique natural gem,” remarked FAA

FAA had applied in June 2016 for the area of Hondoq in Qala to be included within the Public Domain.

Flimkien ghal Ambjent Ahjar concluded by saying that with the application still being processed, it called on decision makers to keep to what was decided today by ensuring the site’s inclusion as part of the Public Domain, thereby guaranteeing that this sensitive site is truly safeguarded at all available levels of legislation.

Hondoq is meant to be enjoyed by all not by the few. Well done FAA the applicant has already taken over and if he will be given more where shall we stay
