8-year old Gozitan Jacob Zerafa, has become the first Gozitan to take part in the European Cycling Union BMX Cup, which was held recently in Verona, Italy.
In his international debut, Zerafa who hails from Ghajnsielem, competed in Race 7, along with four other cyclists in the preliminary round.
This was Jacob’s first experience abroad, after only a few years practicing his favourite sport at the Malta BMX Association facilities in Pembroke.
Jacob’s participation was made possible through the help of his parents, who accompanied him on his trip to Italy.
Joe Bajada, General Secretary of the Maltese Cycling Federation and a delegate for the European Cycling Union and Union Cycliste Internationale, has said that was indubitably a very useful international experience and will continue to help Zerafa to improve his performances at his young age.
He said that this is the greeting of the Maltese BMX Association to all its members,”that with such international experiences, they can continue improving their levels.”
