Gozo celebrates Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation

Canada is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year – also known as the 150th anniversary of Confederation – and the Maltese Canadian Association (Gozo) is organising Canada Day celebrations in Gozo to mark this special event.
This years annual Canada Day function will be held on the 1st of July, at the Country Terrace at Mgarr and all Maltese Canadians and friends are invited to attend.
In the morning at 9.00am there will be a Flag Raising Ceremony of Canadian, European and Maltese flags at the Emigrants Memorial, Mgarr, Gozo. This monument is at Mgarr Gozo on the Zewieqa side, in front of the maritime office
Celebrations in the evening will start at 7.00pm with the playing of the two countries national anthems and the raising of their flags in front of the Country Terrace.
This will be followed by a hot and cold buffet together with live entertainment by the Cini Brothers.
Dress code is smart/casual. Tickets for adults are priced at €30 and tickets for children cost €15. The Association, made up of Maltese Canadian expatriates, proud of their Canadian traditions, meet and discuss various local and Canadian issues pertaining to themselves and their children, as well as organising various functions throughout the year.
