Astrid Vella receives special prize for most deserving entry at Strasbourg

Maltese Candidate for EU Voluntary Work Award
At this evenings Strasbourg European Forum of Voluntary Work awards at the European Parliament of Strasbourg, leading environmentalist Astrid Vella has received the special prize awarded by the jury for the most deserving entry, she had received votes from as far afield as China, Mexico and even the Vatican city.

Ms. Vella came to public attention leading that Flimkien ghal Ambjent Ahjar (FAA’s) different campaigns in order to save Malta’s natural and architectural heritage and especially quality of life. Besides leading national protest rallies in Valletta, FAA is now most active on the St. John’s Cathedral campaign, supporting Save Ramla in Gozo, working on MEPA reform and generally giving residents and civil society the voice they have lacked in the past.

    I am happy to hear this great news.
    Well done Astrid you deserved this You inspired a lot of Maltese and Gozitans to stand up for our rights especially in regards the environment which is deteriorating by the minute .Unless we take immediate action we will be killing the goose that lays the golden egg.
