91.56% average voter turnout in Gozo, with overall average of 92%

The approximate average turnout in Gozo to vote in yesterday’s General Election was 91.56%, the Electoral Commission has said. It was 92% in the 2013 and 2008 election. The average overall total approximate percentage was 92%, it was 93% in 2013.
Following the close of voting last night, the conciliation of the votes is now taking place at Naxxar.
Then at 10.00am the counting process will get underway. Party Agents will take a sample from each of the ballot boxes to assess their projections.
There are 13 electoral districts including Gozo and Comino, and for every district, 5 members are elected to the House of Representatives through the STV system, the single transferable vote.
The vote is initially allocated to the 1st choice election candidate, and then, after a candidate has been either elected or eliminated, the unused vote is transferred to the 2nd choice candidate.
The turnouts by 10.00pm for the General Election 2017 for each district was as follows:
First District: 91.92%
Second District: 93.37%
Third District: 93.19%
Fourth District: 93.85%
Fifth District: 93.20%
Sixth District: 93.07%
Seventh District: 93.28%
Eighth District: 92.69%
Ninth District: 91.30%
Tenth District: 89.47%
Eleventh District: 92.20%
Twelfth District: 87.84%
Thirteenth District: 91.56%.
