Applications are now open for the Job Enhancing Skills Scheme – JESS. Helping persons with disability integrate in the workforce supported by mentors – a new scheme which is to be run by Agenzija Sapport.
“JESS is a pilot project that targets mainly persons with disability who are not in employment. It is aimed to emphasise inclusivity and independent living and thus builds on other programmes offered by the Agency in the community, residential settings and day centres,” the Agency said.
Agenzija Sapport said that this scheme aims to strengthen the abilities of persons with a disability by offering job opportunities and training to develop new skills thus increasing possibilities of seeking gainful employment.
Beneficiaries of the scheme will be part of JESS for a 2-year period on part-time basis, up to 20 hours a week.
Applicants will be interviewed to assess their level of abilities. Agenzija Sapport said that mentors will then be assigned to accompany all beneficiaries throughout the job placement.
The mentors’ role is to guide the beneficiaries, offer supervision and support, therefore ensuring that the work experience is positive and leaves positive results.
JESS will cover the payments to the scheme beneficiaries 100%, with an hourly rate of €5.25.
Agenzija Sapport said that at the end of the scheme, all beneficiaries will be presented with a Certificate of Proficiency that show that they have completed successfully the training process and job placement.
