Prime Minister Joseph Muscat was in Gozo again yesterday, and with just a couple of days left before the General Election, he addressed a Mass Meeting in Xaghra.
He stressed that “the best times are still to come for Gozo, we have a clear plan, a plan which has already started to bear fruit for the island.”
“I’m so proud of what has been achieved in Gozo within the last four years. Never in the history of Gozo has so much work been carried out as in these last years,” he said.
“Work that created wealth,” he added. “Work through which its people have benefited directly. Work where hotels that used to close in the shoulder season, have now started to remain open.”
Dr Muscat commented that the number of unemployed had decreased by almost half and job creation in Gozo increased since they came into power.
The Prime Minister said that 12 companies have expressed interest in the fast ferry operation. This, he said, will begin in a few months time, with the journey between Mgarr and Valletta taking only 45 minutes. He also said that work will begin on the tunnel project linking Malta and Gozo.
Dr Muscat explained that the new hospital will “change the face of Gozo,” where there will be a new cancer treatment unit and a neurology section, among others.
