The Nature of Metal – Gozo exhibition opening at Il-Hagar museum

Next Saturday, a new exhibition will be opening in Gozo – The Nature of Metal – Sculpture and Jewellery, at the Il-Hagar museum in St. George’s Square, Victoria.
This exhibition is an exploration of art in metal by three Gozo designer/makers: Jackie Roberts, Mario Cordina and Rachel Mogg Robinson, each with a different approach to the theme.
Visitors will be able to view original 2D and 3D sculpture hand-crafted in mild steel, copper and brass; some incorporating repurposed scrap metal, and a collection of designer jewellery in sterling silver.The artists said that the exhibits are mostly inspired by the landscape; flora and fauna; culture and environment of the Maltese Islands. “Our work demonstrates the contemporary artistic use of traditional design and craft skills while exploring the essential nature of various metals.”
The exhibition will remain open to the public until the 24th of June. the museum is open daily from 9am-5pm. Entrance is free of charge.
There will be an opportunity to meet the artists at the venue for an informal tour of the exhibition on Saturday, the 3rd of June from 10am-12 noon and again on Sunday, the 11th of June from 9.30-11am.
