The Phoenix Singers from Bournville, Birmingham UK, will be in Gozo next week at Our Lady of Loreto Parish Church in Ghajnsielem, hosted by the JP2 Foundation.
There are 120 choir members of all ages and from all over the city and beyond. The Phoenix choir sings for enjoyment and hold regular concerts to raise money for local charities, sometimes in local venues, at other times in the City of Birmingham, or as guests of choirs elsewhere in the UK.
They also tour abroad every other year. The choir has a repertoire of a wide range of secular and sacred music, from gospel to ‘pop’ classical to folk; such as Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man, Mozart’s Requiem, Zimbe by Alexander L’Estrange and Howard Goodall’s Eternal Light.
The Phoenix Singers will be participating during the 7.00pm Mass at the Ghajnsielem Parish Church, followed by a Sacred Music Concert, on Friday, the 2nd of June, to mark the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the canonisation of Saint Gorg Preca, which took place in June 2007 at the Vatican.
The General Public is warmly invited to attend.
