VIAF 20th anniversary spectacular triple bill of opening events

The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Joseph Vella will open this year’s Victoria International Arts Festival, on Tuesday, the 6th of June.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the VIAF has a special programme of events, which finishes on Monday, the 10th of July, that will bring together more than 600 performers from all over the world.
A spectacular triple bill opening is planned, starting with the inaugural Choral and Orchestral Concert on the 6th of June, featuring: Claire Debono (soprano) Paul Patinka, Ethan Udovich (tenors) Laudate Pueri Choir (director: George Joseph Frendo) University of Delaware Chorale (director: Paul Head) and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra (conductor: Joseph Vella) – Malta/England/USA – to be held at St George’s Basilica
This will be followed on Wednesday, the 7th of June by arguably the best choir in the world, the Pontificia Cappella Sistina under the direction of Mgr Massimo Palombella – to be held at St George’s Basilica.
The final in the triple bill, will be on Thursday, the 8th of June, when the University of Delaware Choir, directed by Paul Head, will give a choral concert to round up an exciting introduction to what promises to be a unique Festival – to be held at St George’s Basilica.
All three concerts will start at 8.00pm.
