Mario Cauchi crowned overall champion of Gozo Motocross Championship

Large crowds enjoyed an impressive show of racing in the finals of the Gozo Motocross Association Championship held on Sunday afternoon.
Supporters and motocross enthusiasts cheered on the riders who continued to challenge each other in a friendly, but competitive manner to the end.Mario Cauchi was crowned Champion of Class A and overall champion of the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championship 2016/17.
Cauchi started out the championship on a good note following the very close call he had during last year’s competition.
Diversely challenged along this journey, Cauchi held on tightly to his position, which ultimately awarded him the pinnacle of this exciting championship.Keith Bugeja was crowned champion of Class B. His progress was clearly evident as he achieved one accomplishment after another in each race on his brand new Yamaha YZ 250. Keith will be promoted to Class A.
Class C also turned out to be an interesting competition as the result remained indecisive to the end. However Joseph Luke Gauci managed to upturn the outcome and was therefore crowned Champion.
Trophies, awards and gifts were presented at the end of the races to those who deserved it most.Best Rider 2016/17 was awarded to Steve Xuereb. The ‘Frank Bruno Motocross Award 2017’ was given to Robert Spiteri for his continuous enthusiasm, dedication, and discipline as a rider-member of GMA.
Vice-president Jesmond Bigeni, Secretary VickyAnn Xuereb and committee members Mark Camilleri and John Mercieca, were each given awards for their hard work and commitment. The GMA also handed momentums to all member riders.
Finally, Mr Joe Bajada, an outstanding sports personality in Gozo and abroad, presented trophies to the winners of the dayClass A:
