Government and GFA sign the first direct financial agreementAn agreement has been signed between the Government and the Gozo Football Association. This is the first such direct agreement signed with the Association, because until now financial grants were, and still are, given directly to clubs, explained Parliamentary Secretary Chris Agius.

Chris Agius said that through this agreement the Gozo Football Association will receive a grant of €100,000 which will be used for the maintenance of the Gozo National Stadium. Work will include changing the sound system, extending the VIP stand and putting glass surrounds, as well as also improving the seating in the area..

He added that, “during this term it has been seen that we support sport on the island and with this agreement we continue to show how much we believe in Gozo’s athletes.”

The President of the GFA Samuel Azzopardi, praised the work of the Secretariat for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sport, and said that he – as President – was pleased that the Government has recognised the work carried out by the Gozo Football Association.
