A Marsh Harrier and a Night Heron, which were both recovered during this year’s spring hunting season, have been rehabilitated and released by BirdLife Malta.
The Marsh Harrier, which was the first victim of the 2017 spring hunting season, was retrieved with gunshot wounds to one of its wings, from Selmun on the 26th of March, the second day of the season.
BirdLife said that luckily it survived and after being rehabilitated, it was released on Comino.
The Night Heron was recovered from a hotel rooftop in Mellieha. BirdLife added that although it was confirmed that it was not shot at, it was diagnosed by the vet as being very weak.
After a few days of care, it was released the BirdLife Malta Is-Simar Nature Reserve in Xemxija.
