Gozo Court acquits British naturalist Chris Packham of all chargesThis morning the Gozo Court acquitted the British naturalist and television presenter Chris Packham of all the charges brought against him due to lack of evidence.

Packham, In his first reaction to the journalists present, commented that he is “a keen supporter of Malta and likes the country very much, whilst adding that at no stage did he advocate a boycott or any harm to the Maltese people.”

He added, “our only concern is about the tiny minority which commits illegal acts against birds both in Malta and also from a European and global perspective.”

Packham said that his case “highlighted the problems encountered by BirdLife Malta when they try to implement the law as part of their work.”

He called on the Maltese Government and on Prime Minister Joseph Muscat “to strengthen enforcement so that the law could be seen to be implemented with more police presence on the field.”

      Now, can the trappers be investigated for perverting the course of justice and do the arresting officers belong to any hunting affiliates? This should not be rocket science.
