25 wild-caught Turtle Doves released back into the wild in GozoA large illegal cage trap for Turtle Doves was discovered yesterday close to the village of Gharb, Gozo by members of the Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS).

CABS said that the trap contained 25 live Turtle Doves, which were subsequently confiscated and released into the wild by the Gozo Police. WBRU enforcement officers also assisted in the operation.

CABS, in its statement, praised the authorities for their quick reaction in this case.

A video from the release can be seen below, it also contains footage of a Turtle Dove which was shot in Safi and found dying by a CABS team this morning.

Turtle Doves may not be shot or trapped in spring.
