Gozo sports personalties recognised in awards ceremony

On Saturday evening, the annual Gozo Sports Awards ceremony was held at the Grand Hotel Mgarr. This annual event acknowledges the efforts and great sacrifices made by the athletes, coaches and sports administrators in Gozo.
The Gozo Sports Awards are organised by the Gozo Sports Board within the Ministry for Gozo, in collaboration SportMalta.
Present for the Awards Ceremony was the Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sport Chris Agius, who gave his congratulations to the Gozo Sports Board and all those who were recognised in the field of sports in Gozo.
The Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo and the Parliamentary Secretary for Rights of Persons with Disability and Active Ageing Dr Justyne Caruana also attended the ceremony.
Entertainment for the evening was provided by DCapital’s Band with singer Kelly Grima, under the musical direction of Mro Joseph Debrincat.

Promising Youth -Female – Maria Farrugia (Football)
Promising Youth – Male – Brandon Sultana (Cycling)
Official of the Year – Paul Camilleri (Athletics)
Team of the Year – Gozo Female Football Team
Special Award – Nicole Grima – Swimming Special Olympics
Appreciation for Sports Career – Michael Angelo Camilleri
Special appreciation – Joe Bajada
Sports Person of the Year- Female – Felicienne Mercieca (Triathlon)
Sports Person of the Year Male – Charlton Debono (Athletics)
The Gozo Sports Board congratulated all those who were nominated and the winners of the respective categories.
