€8 million extension for the domestic Photovoltaic Grants Scheme

The domestic Photovoltaic Grants Scheme has been allocated an €8 million extension, this was announced by the Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister Konrad Mizzi and the Parliamentary Secretary for the EU Presidency 2017 and EU Funds Ian Borg.
Minister Mizzi explained that the scheme aims to incentivise households to invest in renewable energy to generate electricity from clean sources and to reach the European Unions’ renewable energy 2020 targets set for Malta.
He pointed out that Malta is on track to reach its 2020 renewable energy targets having already reached half of this target and has also launched a National Renewable Energy Action Plan for 2020.
Parliamentary Secretary Ian Borg said that after 10 months from the first call launched under the European Regional Development Funds for Malta 2014-2020 in May 2016, €6.2 million have been committed with 2,844 families benefitting from renewable energy sources.
