Quarter-Finals Gozo Motocross Championship held on Sunday

The Gozo Motocross Association organised the quarter-finals of the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championship 2016/17 on Sunday.
Races started at 1pm, with the clouds clearing away just in time to bring sunny skies, helping to make sure that the afternoon was an extremely enjoyable experience both for riders and spectators alike.In Class A, spectators watched 2 sets of challenging duets between Mario Cauchi and David Dimech and also between Etienne Bigeni and Robert Spiteri. Cauchi managed to overtake Dimech after a few laps, thus placing himself first, followed by Dimech. Bigeni came in third followed closely by Spiteri.
In Class B, Keith Bugeja held on to first place while Godfrey Bigeni and Matthew Zammit raced for second place. In fact Bigeni came in second followed closely by Zammit.In Class C, Joseph Luke Gauci did well in all of the three heats, and came in first in this category. Veteran Mark Camilleri came in second while the young Matthew Spiteri won third place.
Each winner was awarded a trophy at the end of the day’s hard work.The Gozo Motocross Association will continue its programme with the Semi-finals on the 23rd of April followed by the Finals on Sunday, the 14th of May.
Meanwhile in collaboration with the Gozo Sports Board, GMA will be organising the third edition of the Gozo Enduro Rally on the 6th of May as part of the Gozo Sports Festival which will be held between the 8th of April and the 7th of May.
The GMA congratulated Franke Xuereb, Etienne Bigeni and Emma Xuereb for being nominees at the Gozo Sports Awards 2016, which will be held this coming Saturday, the 8th of April. “We wish them the best of luck.”
