On Thursday evening, the Prime Minister Dr Joseph Muscat, was in Gozo for the Public Consultation with the Government – ‘Gvern li jisma – which took place at the Cittadella.
The Prime Minister spoke about the proposed permanent link – a tunnel between Malta and Gozo.
He explained that the geological surveys were underway, with initial results already coming in. Should the results show that a tunnel can be built, then a tender would be issued.
Dr Muscat warned that the project, should it be feasible, would also bring with it associated problems, such as the environmental impact, and the locations in Gozo and Malta for the tunnel openings.
Also present for the event was the Deputy Prime Minister Louis Grech.
