Mario Cauchi dominates the day at Gozo Motocross Association FunRace

Clear blue skies and warm sunshine welcomed both riders and spectators for the friendly competitions – a FunRace – organised by the Gozo Motocross Association, at Ta’ Xhajma Track on Sunday.
Mario Cauchi dominated the day as he raced in Class A with Etienne Bigeni, Robert Spiteri and Keith Bugeja who was promoted to Class A from Class B for the day. Cauchi finished in first place, unfortunately Bigeni’s bike suffered a breakdown. Bugeja came in second, while Robert Spiteri classified in third place.In Class B, Matthew Zammit held on to first position followed by Anthony Fenech and Frank Xuereb respectively. Mark Camilleri came in fourth place. Godfrey Bigeni also had bike trouble and ended up fifth.
Class C was dominated by two young riders, Matthew Spiteri and Kurt Fenech. Spiteri did very well on his Honda CR80cc, also winning class C with maximum points. Kurt Fenech, Honda CRF 150cc came in second place followed closely by a new rider Marvin Sultana. Raymond Caruana, Steve Cassar and Emma Xuereb also participated in this category.Winners were awarded trophies and vouchers sponsored by Ravenol High Performance Lubricants from Galea General Services.
Gozo Motocross Association announced that the next event will be the Quarter Finals of the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championship 2016/17. This activity will take place on Sunday, the 2nd of April at Ta’ Xhajma Track.The Association said that it encourages and welcomes new riders to these events.
