The Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo, has said that a service of a fast ferry from Gozo to Malta is expected to start in 2018.
Dr Refalo made the announcement during a public meeting on Friday evening as part of the Public Consultation with the Cabinet – ‘Gvern li jisma – held in Xewkija, on the subject of “Gozo Opportunities.”
The Gozo Minister explained that to start with four trips a day are being planned – two in the morning and two in the afternoon. This new service is aimed at students and workers who have to commute on a daily basis.
Over the past years there have been many calls for this long awaited service from the various student organisations, the GTA, GBC and many other entities, hoping for a direct link between Mgarr and Valletta.
The fast ferry service will operate between Mgarr and the Grand Harbour, the Minister said.
