The Leone Grand Christmas Show on December 20th

The Leone Grand Christmas ShowFollowing the two grand successes organised at the Aurora Theatre in the last months, namely the production of La Bohème and the Leone Band in concert, the Leone Philharmonic Society is putting up a new theatre production: The Leone Grand Christmas Show. It will be produced at the Teatru ta’ l-Opra Aurora on Saturday, 20th December 2008 starting at 8pm.

Inspired from the popular British version of the Royal Christmas Variety, this experimental production will feature the Leone Band under the baton of Mro Colin Attard together with a 50-strong choir comprising mainly of children, sustained with youths and adult choirs, led by Matthew Sultana.

The production, a show, rather than a concert, is a festival of sounds and lights geared at celebrating the traditional Maltese Christmas in the context of the modern world celebrations. Therefore, we shall see how contemporary Maltese society still treasures its very own Christmas with the Baby Jesus procession, the boy’s sermon and of course, its genuine festive cuisine. But tradition is not all. The 90 minute show (plus a 20-minute interval) will also include some of the most festive seasonal tunes from the world of pop music, interpreted by the band, the choirs and up-and-coming junior artistes.

It will be a Christmas bonanza to all those who attend. A nominal fee of €5.00 is being charged. Tickets can be pre-booked and collected from the theatre booking office or at the door. Early booking is recommended. Greetings for a holy Christmas and a peaceful start of the New Year will be exchanged in the theatre lobby over as Christmas delicacies are served for free to all those present.
