The Minister for Gozo, Anton Refalo has inaugurated the new KPMG audit office in Victoria. The Minister reiterated that one of the priorities of this government is creating jobs, with quality employment opportunities in Gozo.
“Six Gozitan workers will start operating from this office immediately, and this number could possibly increase in the near future, Dr Refalo said.
The new office in Victoria will now mean that Gozitan clients of the company will no longer have to travel to Malta to avail of their service.
During the inauguration Minister Refalo said that Gozo is open to any kind of investment. “The Ministry for Gozo is working fully to carry out the necessary investment in infrastructure for this small island to attract investment to Gozo.”
He mentioned that this includes an investment of € 3.2 million over two years for a second fibre optic cable between the two islands. This investment will reduce dependence on the one cable currently in use, and allow for more private investment in the field of IT, stated the Minister.
Dr Refalo said that a site has also been identified – formerly the home of Malta Dairy Products – which will be developed as a digital hub. This €16 million project will be undertaken in full collaboration with Malta Enterprise.
Minister Refalo wished every success to the company, while urging other companies to also invest in Gozo.
