300 elderly people in Gozo & Malta have their Christmas wishes answeredThere has been a great response to the second year of the campaign of Christmas wishes for the elderly in Gozo and Malta – Nahseb Fik (I am thinking of you), led by the Parliamentary Secretary for the Rights of Persons with Disability and the Elderly, Dr Justyne Caruana. With this year more than 300 people benefiting through the campaign

“This is another community initiative during this festive season when some elderly will unfortunately be alone, such as those who no longer have close family, or are maybe without any visitors,” said Dr Caruana.

She added that through such a campaign there could be a more direct solidarity between generations in the family and community.

“The care and attention of the elderly within Maltese and Gozitan families remains strong, but there are those who fail from a legal and moral duty to properly care for parents and the elderly in the family,” said Dr Justyne Caruana.

“This initiative has continued to encourage more sense of duty within families themselves and at the same time it is creating public awareness to counter or compensate for situations of solitude,” she added.

Parliamentary Secretary Justyne Caruana gave thanks to all those who had been so quick to grant the wishes expressed by more than 300 elderly people by presenting their gifts.
