Parliamentary Secretary, Dr Chris Said, was recently shown around the ongoing refurbishment in St George’s Square by Mayor Robert Tabone.
The Mayor explained the process that has been carried out to date, and also what still needs to be done to finish off the project.
An enlargeable copy of the proposed general plan for St George’s Square is shown at the bottom of this article.
Mayor Tabone also made a short presentation on the lighting design which will be used for the Square, he said that apart from being an attraction in itself, the Italian light designer had worked hard on producing a system which is very much cost effective and which will decrease dramatically the energy consumption of the Square.
The Parliamentary Secretary said he was impressed in the way with which the works were being carried out and the professional way the project was being managed.
Dr Said also had words of praise regarding the lighting design for the Square and for the Council’s efforts to use lighting systems that were sustainable and had a low carbon footprint.
