Minister for Gozo attends the CPMR in the Azores, Portugal

The Minister for Gozo Anton Refalo is currently attending the General Assembly of the European Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions of Europe (CPMR), which is being held in the Azores, Portugal.
The Minister announced that the General Assembly of the CPMR Islands Commission will take place in Gozo on the 9th of March 2017, together with the CPMR Political Bureau, which will take place on the 10th of March.
The Azores Assembly is discussing topics ranging from the European Cohesion Policy, transport and accessibility, maritime affairs and the immigration crisis.
Today,the CPMR is urging MEPs to support a European Parliament declaration calling for the EU's remaining Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) funding to be allocated to projects that improve accessibility for Europe's peripheral regions and islands. The call was made at the CPMR General Assembly in the Azores.
Being located along Europe's shoreline brings both advantages and specific difficulties, about 150 Regions have come together to form the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions of Europe (CPMR).
They are from 28 countries and represent almost 200 million people. They work together to ensure that EU institutions and national governments take account of their common interests, and cooperate on practical projects in order to enhance their assets.
