Front Favur Il-Mina discuss plans for the Gozo tunnel project with TM

Coordinators of Front Favur il-Mina held a meeting on Friday with the Chairman of Transport Malta James Piscopo, along with Simon Grima, Chief Officer of the Roads Directorate.
The parties discussed recent updates regarding the Malta-Gozo tunnel, with reference to the issue for the call for tenders to carry out geological studies in the channel between Malta and Gozo.
The Front said that Mr Piscopo assured them that deadlines regarding the studies will be kept. He also explained, step by step, what this process will involve.
He said that seismic studies should be starting very soon after the tender deadline, and coring should be completed by mid-next year.
The studying process will be ongoing, he explained, and will continue even after the conclusion of the studies, during the design stage of the tunnel
The Front said that he had also stated that the exact places chosen for the bore holes were learned ones, after consultations with experts in the field.
The Chairman said that the University of Malta will play a major part in these geological studies, which will be carried out in collaboration with Transport Malta.
