Turnover in selected services activities up on last year in Q2In the second quarter of 2016, working-day adjusted turnover in selected services activities increased by 0.8 per cent over the corresponding period of 2015. Provisional seasonally adjusted services turnover decreased by 1.9 per cent, the National Statistics Office said today.

Turnover increased in motor trade (16.3 per cent), real estate activities (15.7 per cent), administrative and support service activities (6.8 per cent), transportation and storage (6.6 per cent), accommodation and food service activities (5.8 per cent), professional, scientific and technical activities (1.0 per cent) and information and communication (0.3 per cent).

Decreases were registered in wholesale trade (5.6 per cent) and retail trade (0.9 per cent).

Employment, gross wages and salaries and hours worked increased by 2.6, 5.8 and 4.5 per cent respectively over the comparative quarter of 2015.

When compared to the previous quarter, seasonally adjusted turnover in the second quarter of 2016 decreased by 1.9 per cent.

Decreases were registered in administrative and support service activities (6.2 per cent), motor trade (5.0 per cent), wholesale trade (4.5 per cent), accommodation and food service activities (2.9 per cent), professional, scientific and technical activities (2.5 per cent) and retail trade (0.3 per cent). Increases were registered in real estate activities (31.5 per cent), transportation and storage (6.8 per cent) and information and communication (5.7 per cent).

Seasonally adjusted employment decreased by 0.5 per cent. On the other hand, gross wages and salaries and hours worked increased by 0.4 and 0.7 respectively over the previous quarter.
