Industrial production up on previous month, but down 3.3% on 2015Seasonally adjusted industrial production increased by 0.3 per cent in May over the previous month. When compared to May 2015, the index of industrial production adjusted for working days went down by 3.3 per cent, the National Statistics Office said today.

In May, the seasonally adjusted index of industrial production increased by 0.3 per cent. Increases were registered in the production of intermediate goods (0.6 per cent) and energy (0.1 per cent). On the other hand, the production of consumer goods and capital goods went down by 3.4 and 1.0 per cent respectively.

When compared to the corresponding month of 2015, the index of industrial production adjusted for working days went down by 3.3 per cent. This was mainly due to decreases of 9.9 per cent in the production of intermediate goods and 4.2 per cent in the production of capital goods. On the other hand, increases were registered in the production of energy (2.6 per cent) and consumer goods (1.1 per cent).
