The Campaign was officially launched in Gozo at Ninu Cremona Boys Junior Lyceum and G. Agius de Soldanis Girls Junior Lyceum in Victoria, Gozo, under the patronage of Mrs. Mary Fenech Adami in the presence of Jack Thewma, Manager Gozo Branch at Bank of Valletta, and Edmond Tabone from the Public Broadcasting Services Ltd. This was followed by a visit to the Mellieha Primary School where BOV was represented by John Soler, Chief Officer Credit at Bank of Valletta.

Throughout the Campaign as many as 5,000 piggy banks will be distributed in classrooms which will involve over 70,000 students in government, church and private schools in Malta and Gozo. The campaign helps raise awareness amongst younger generations about the needs of other people in the community..

This is the fifth consecutive year that Bank of Valletta is teaming up with the L-Istrina Campaign to organize what has become an established event for the public who follow and participate enthusiastically throughout the charity Campaign. The ‘Piggy Bank Campaign’ has become an integral part of the L-Istrina Team’s efforts, who work with BOV’s team in a spirit of solidarity. Together they encourage children to set aside money they usually spend for themselves and donate them for a charitable cause.

“The value of solidarity is strongly entrenched in our principles as a Bank and motivates us throughout the year to support numerous charity events and organizations. The BOV L-Istrina Campaign represents an important moment for the many people who will directly benefit from the funds collected,” explained Mr Soler.
