Harvard University to provide management advice for Gozo Hospital

Minister for Health Chris Fearne, announced today that a deal is being prepared that will see the Gozo General Hospital receiving management advice from Harvard University.
Speaking during the Labour Party’s Regional Congress which is taking place in Marsalforn, Gozo, the Minister said that he would be flying to Boston in the coming days to finalise the deal.
The agreement will be on advice in relation to the management of the hospital, training of hospital staff, and the use of medical devices, Dr Fearne said.
“This will be contributing towards creating a hospital better than Mater Dei, while the purpose of this agreement is that Gozo is recognised as one of the best hospitals in the world and with the highest standards.”
He added that the hospital will increase the number of beds from the present 291. to that of 450. 100 of which will be used for medical tourism, therefore also helping to boost the economy of Gozo.
Minister Fearne also reiterated the fact that medical treatment for Gozitans and Maltese would remain free.
