New Fair Trade art gallery, Lazuli Art, held their official launch event last Friday evening, in Gozo. The art gallery was officially opened by Laurent Croset, Cultural Attache for the French Embassy with noted guests including Ester Bajada, Director of Tourism and Economic Development and the team at the Gozo Business chamber.
A large and vibrant company of art lovers attended the evening and the team at Lazuli Art said that they have been so pleased with the wonderful reception that the new gallery has received, "together with the out pouring of enthusiasm and support for this project."
Lazuli Art, located on Palm Street in the centre of Victoria, is an exciting new initiative by owner and curator Charlotte Lombard. The principle of the gallery is Fair Trade and this season will focus on unique and intricate metal work from around the world.
The opening night showcased the innovative recycled steel drum art work from the Caribbean island of Haiti; beautiful birds from Zimbabwe and featured a special delivery of delicate bowls from Burkina Faso.
The gallery said that in the coming weeks new pieces will be arriving from Madagascar and Morocco; and more birds arriving from Zimbabwe within days.
