An exhibition celebrating 40 years of caring for animals by Gozo SPCA, was inaugurated on Wednesday by the Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo. An introductory speech was also given by Gozo SPCA Chairman Joe Camilleri.
The exhibition features work by Gozitan school children, as well as illustrating the work done by Gozo SPCA over the last 40 years.
British resident Jane Sedgfield started the work of Gozo SPCA forty years ago. She was concerned by the number of stray cats and dogs in Gozo and also at the difficulties of finding veterinary care for companion animals.
The results of her initiative and the work of many others who have followed in her footsteps can be seen all around the island today, with the greatly reduced numbers of stray dogs and feral cats.
This Saturday, the 30th of April, there will be a visit to the exhibition by President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.
The exhibition is taking place at the Ministry for Gozo Exhibition Hall, St Francis Square and is open from 9.00am to 4.30pm each day, apart from the last day, Tuesday the 3rd of May, when it will close at 1.00pm.
