Twenty four Air Malta Passenger handling staff members will soon be travelling to the German capital Berlin for a three week training course and work experience at the city’s Tegel airport on the EU funded Leonardo Da Vinci Mobility Programme. The participants were selected following an internal call for expression of interest after the airline’s proposal for funding with the title, GeRmany-Experience And Training (GREAT), was selected and was allocated EU funds to implement this project for its employees.
The programme aims to give participants a ‘hands on experience’ and training in client relationship management through a work placement experience in a foreign airport while offering participants a cultural exchange experience. The placement is also intended to further enhance the service levels offered by Air Malta’s ground staff.
Speaking during a preparation meeting for the staff members taking part in the program, Air Malta’s Chief Executive Joe Cappello congratulated them on being selected. He encouraged them to make the best on this opportunity and added, “This experience will be extremely beneficial for yourselves and your careers in that not only you will undergo a professional course by Trainico, our German training partners, but you will also have the opportunity to work at the busy Tegel International airport. The European Union’s Leonardo training program fits perfectly with Air Malta’s policy to provide life-long professional training to its employees and the airline will continue investing in more training opportunities for its staff members.”
