‘Ta Passi’ Crib in Ghajnsielem becoming a reality

Ghajnsielem Live CribThe ‘Bethlehem in Ghajnsielem’ project is now in its third week, and the hard work by dozens of volunteers on the project has made sure that the live crib is finally starting to take shape. All the rubble walls have been restored at the site, and several wooden houses are being erected in ‘Ta Passi’ fields.

The project is causing a considerable amount of interest, both from passing motorists and pedestrians. The official date for the opening has been announced and will take place on Sunday the 7th of December at 11.00am. The village will remain open until the 4th of January 2009.

Volunteers for the work on the village are required, and several actors and extras are needed for the crib. More details can be obtained from Franco Ciangura on +356 99849250.

‘Bethlehem in Ghajnsielem’ is an initiative taken by the Ghajnsielem Local Council, particularly by Mayor Francis Cauchi who has been eager for this project to be started for several years. Many local organisations are collaborating together, including the Ghajnsielem Parish.

‘Bethlehem in Ghajnsielem’ was designed and is being managed by Franco Ciangura. It promises to be a major attraction this Christmas season as the whole area of ‘Ta Passi’ will literally be transformed into a ‘live crib’ and will offer a naturalistic reproduction of the environ of Bethlehem.
