The Gozo Half Marathon Organising Committee has announced the 41st edition of the Teamsport Gozo Half Marathon, which is being held on Sunday, the 24th of April.
The event is by far the largest and longest standing athletic event in Gozo attracting hundreds of local and foreign athletes.
Prospective applicants can participate in the half marathon (21.1 km) or the 8 mile (12.9 km) race. The challenge, which is renowned for its hilly route, is certainly rewarding to participants.
The route takes athletes through the most astonishing sights that Gozo's landscape and its villages uniquely offer. Children aged between 9 and 15 years can take part in the 2 km or 4 km races, depending on their ages. A 2 km Fun Run is open to all ages, making it possible for the whole family to participate and enjoy the day!
All races start at 9.15am and conveniently start and end at the Xaghra Square. All participating athletes crossing the finish line will be recognised with a medal.
A total of 87 trophies and €1000 in vouchers redeemable from Teamsport will be awarded to the best performers.
Diadora testimonial Gelindo Bordin, among other, winner of the 1988 Olympics marathon, will be attending the event and presenting the winners with the trophies and prizes.
Fees for applications received by the 15th of April are set at €12 for adult races and €5 for children and fun run races. Registration is inclusive of free transport between the Ferry Terminal at Mgarr and Xaghra Square, a Diadora technical running top and a goody bag. Showering and sanitary facilities are also available.
Late application fees apply from the 16th of April, while no applications will be accepted after the 22nd of April.
The organisers have also announced that Teamsport is its main and exclusive technical sponsor for the next four years. For the 2016 edition Teamsport will be sponsoring the event in collaboration with Diadora.
