Gozo Minister visits Quaint Boutique Hotels, Xewkija hotel opening soon

The Minister for Gozo, Anton Refalo has visited the Quaint Boutique Hotels in Nadur and Ghajnsielem. A Boutique style hotel offers a unique experience to holiday makers who wish to live and enjoy the Gozitan lifestyle, in the heart of local village settings.
The Quaint Boutique Hotel in Nadur started operating last year, and in the coming weeks, a second one for the Group will be opening in Xewkija. With work on boutique hotels in Ghajnsielem and Sannat expected to be completed by the end of this year
The Nadur hotel accommodates 12 rooms, while the other projects will add a further 47 rooms in new accommodation availability to Gozo. The Minister said that the advantage of this type of hotel is that it offers a unique opportunity to anyone who wants to experience the traditional Gozitan way of life, in accommodation that offers some unique features and the best possible comfort.
The Minister reiterated that the Government is creating productive employment for Gozitans in Gozo. He mentioned how this is resulting in one of the key factors for the biggest decline in registered unemployment on the islands in eight years. This was confirmed by figures from the National Statistics Office. Dr Refalo also pointed out that economic growth rose from 1.8% in 2012 to 8.1% in 2014 – four times more compared to the last year of the previous administration.
The Minister mentioned that according to a recent survey carried out by the Gozo Tourism Association among operators in the industry, it showed that the majority of Gozo tourism operators consider the outcome of last year as positive. He said that 64 percent of operators reported that they had outperformed 2014.
"The Government's aim is to continue to create the right environment to foster ever more sustainable private investment," the Minister said.
While congratulating the owners of this hotel, Dr Refalo explained how these type of projects will further enhance the employment opportunities for Gozitans in Gozo as was promised by the Government. Above all, he said, projects of this kind will continue to attract more quality tourists to the island.
