Gozo Bishop to lead penitential pilgrimage to pray for rain

The Bishop of Gozo Mgr Mario Grech, is to lead a penitential pilgrimage with the statue of the Christ the Redeemer, followed by a Mass with prayers for rain.
The Bishop said that the crops and its fruit will suffer as a result of the drought. He added that many farmers were seeing their fields parched due to the unusual drought, which was causing hardship.
"Therefore, I call on all our farmers and all the people of God on our island, to join together and take a penitential pilgrimage on Sunday, starting from the parish church of Qala to the Sanctuary of the Immaculate Conception, also in Qala.
The pilgrimage starts at 4.00pm, and Mass will be celebrated upon arrival at the Sanctuary.
