When going down to Dwejra Bay, besides the impeccable view of this jewel that forms part of San Lawrenz village, one can currently also observe an unusual scene, for at the moment Dwejra is serving as the backdrop for a new German film.
This is not the first time that Dwejra Bay has attracted famous film directors for the shooting of well known films. Once again, a German film director, very well known in his country, has chosen this locality. The actors that are involved are young German actors who are also very popular in the German film industry. The film is directed for a young family-orientated audience, and is due to be released in German, Austrian and Swiss cinemas early in 2009.
Besides Dwejra Bay, this company has also been filming in Munich and also at the Mediterranean Film Studios in Kalkara, Malta. The name of the film is as yet undisclosed although the provisional title is ‘The Arrow’.
Some 35% of the crew are made up of Maltese and Gozitans, which confirms that this sector is contributing to the economy of our country.
Dwejra Bay was chosen was because of its unique beauty and setting, but we will have to wait and see exactly what part it will play in this new film.
